International Organisation
15 credits
This module will explore the international agencies, such as the United Nations and the International Labour Organisation and how they shape social and economic polices at country-government level and the global level. It will also explore the role of NGOs in supporting human social and economic development and well-being.
Human Resource Management
15 credits
You will develop knowledge and understanding of how to develop HRM strategies specifically recruitment and selection, reward management, performance management and culture management.
Global and Economic Development
15 credits
You will examine the social, cultural, political and economics of globalisation. The module will also explore international development policies to aid social justice, equality and human advancement.
Organisational Behaviour and Leadership
15 credits
You will study the latest theories on teams and leadership, power, culture politics and group decision making.
Enterprise and Entrepreneurship
15 credits
The course aims to develop your knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues in enterprise development and entrepreneurship in a world-wide context with an emphasis on scholarly knowledge, practical skills and strategic thinking. Furthermore, the aspiring entrepreneur will also learn how to obtain the resources necessary to strategically pursue opportunities and to create an entrepreneurial organisation.
Research Dissertation
45 credits
The dissertation is the pinnacle of the Masters programme. Building on the knowledge and skills you have developed during the programme, the dissertation allows you to further develop your own ideas and specialist interest. You will choose your own topic which may be connected to a business and management subject you want to learn more about, a management related issue connected to your current or previous work experience, or within a related area that you want to follow as a career. You will combine skills of creativity, planning and idea development, academic research and writing with data analysis and presentation, and critical appraisal and evaluation to produce your own original and independent dissertation report of between 12,000-15,000 words. You will be guided by a dedicated academic supervisor who will have expertise within the topic area.

This MA provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles and techniques of human resource management and development (HRM & D). It enables you to develop competence, techniques and effectiveness in managing and developing human capital, focusing on the crucial role of human resources in meeting challenges in the rapidly changing environment. It also aims to build capabilities within individuals, organisations and societies. Participants will engage in a critical analysis of best practices in HRM&D, and their application to globalisation and international development processes. The programme examines the current international business environment and its diverse nature of social and economic challenges to the management and development of human resources. Graduates can go onto careers in human resource management in the private and public sectors, training & HR consultancy, or senior roles within multinational corporations or international development agencies, such as the United Nations.
